Peking University

Although I didn't study in Beijing, I still have a chance to pay a visit to this university and get a feel for the campus atmosphere.

Basically, I had no idea how large the Peking University campus is. However, I spent a half day there together with my friend and found that the visit was quite exhausting for us. I was very pleased and found out some interesting scenes in campus.

After visiting this university, I had made a comparison with the university which I studied in Malaysia. This university has more features:

• wide range of courses
• great study environment
• good reputation
• simple campus life
• scenic compound

That day, I saw a Caucasian student riding his bicycle and he put a bunch of flower in the basket in front of his bike. I guess he was rushing to meet his girl friend.

I am missing the time staying in Beijing with a big group of colleagues. We worked hard for the project and travel down every road in Beijing together. It had become the most precious moment in my life.

Walk to Beijing office 11.09.2005

Last night, my friend told me that he couldn't recognize my look when we chatted in MSN. He claimed that my look is different after he viewed my photos here. He thought that he was chatting with another friend named "Vincent" too.

After the chat, I found out some old photos from my DVD disc. While on the way walking to Beijing office, I took some photos near my apartment. As shown in the photos, I bought the same design shirts with different color at WangFuJing. One of them is yellow color and another one is in dark blue. If I am not mistaken, this 2 shirt cost me RMB30. I found the cartoon is so cute, therefore, I wanted to own it. Whenever I wore this yellow shirt and went to crowded area, my colleagues could spot me easily because it is a noticeable color. Now, I don't know where did I put this yellow shirt. Hopefully I still able to wear it because the shirt is getting smaller in size (I am still in my growing stage, haha..).

Each block of apartment has 4 floors only. After some of my team mates returned to Malaysia, I moved to a new apartment unit and which had glass walls all around the room. My colleague then laughed and compared me to living in an fish aquarium.

After we had placed our order, I purposely took a photo with the receipt. Thus I will be able to recall the unique dishes served by this restaurant and their prices as well in the future.

All of us loved the food so much and we all agreed that we would be happy to take our meal here everyday.

Great calligraphy work was displayed near entrance. They started the 2 sentences with restaurant name.

We went there few times for dinner. If we do not make reservation, we are required to sit in front of the full glass window near main entrance and wait for the table to get cleared. There was a row of chairs for sitting. We felt that we acted as shop display items while we sat there.

The chef will slice the duck in front of us. I have to look for all my old photos before I can post them here.

XiDan, 西单

My colleagues and I often went there by subway. There are a lot of shopping complex such as Xidan Market, Xidan Shopping Center, Xidan Scitech Shopping City and Zhongyou Department Store, located at XiDan commercial area and often frequented by Beijing residents. Shopping in XiDan can be a bit overwhelming due to the large crowds especially on weekends. It is a non-touristy shopping spot compared to WangFuJing, therefore the price of goods can be cheaper. A stick of sugar-coated haws only costs RMB 4. However, sugar-coated strawberries, orange and pineapple are priced at RMB 8. I had my first try on this sweet snack during winter time.
